You can use some usb memory sticks for extrernal ram with vista "ReadyBoost" but it never really caught on. Think it was probably too slow. Researching today, core i5 seems the way to go. So far: 8...

Just looking on the darkbasic site and found recommended specs for darkbasic is only a 733 MHz Pentium III Processor and a 32mb directx9 graphics card. I think that will cover most computers these day...
